The Incredible Pringles Chicken Race
by Jeff The Kiwi - June 9th, 2009. Filed under: Events and Activities, Latest News, North Island, South Island.After being told about a unique race about to take place across New Zealand, I thought I’d spread the word! After all, this isn’t just any race!
Pringles and The Edge FM are putting up the cash if contestants are willing to put up their time and, most likely their dignity, with The Incredible Pringles Chicken Race from 17 June 2009.
Five teams of two will battle it out to win a share of $20,000 as they race each other from Queenstown to Auckland in just nine days. The race will see them passing through a number of towns on the way, taking part in set challenges each day in the various locations.
Tasks will include “Flying Solo” (a task only one person can complete), “Intersections” (a choice between two tasks; one physical, one generally mental) and “Freezes” (where teams can choose to give their fellow competitors a time penalty or not). Some days may involve a simple hide and seek, while others may see contestants taking part in a scavenger hunt or extreme sport.
While organisers are keeping the finer details of the race top secret, they have revealed that the final task at the end will potentially end the race for some if they become ‘chicken’.
The Incredible Pringles Chicken Race takes place from Wednesday 17 June to Friday 26 June 2009, passing through the following locations;
Day 1 (17 June): Queenstown, Bluff, Gore, Dunedin
Day 2 (18 June): Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Christchurch
Day 3 (19 June): Christchurch, Kaikoura, Nelson, Blenheim
